Christina Powers, Secondary School Principal

“There are two components that are fundamental to enjoy life and feel good about yourself: continual learning and service”

Tim Ferriss

This upcoming week secondary students will have the opportunity to sign up for a variety of service-learning, sports, arts, and other activities.  Please encourage your child to get involved and engaged.

Next week we look forward to having our campus open to all students. In an effort to create a smooth pick-up process secondary students will be allowed on the front steps for pick-up at 2:30. Please do not attempt to pick up your child before 2:30. For those students walking or taking their bicycles, we encourage you to use the side entrance.

Grade 11 Exam Schedule

  • The exam will be a formative assessment, meaning that it will be used to help guide the teachers in what they should do next. It is not high stakes, and as it is the first assessment of the quarter, it will not have much of an impact on your overall quarter grade as there will be other assessments that will occur this quarter.

  • Students are to take their exams in person unless there is a reason not to. Students will be handwriting their exams as you will need to do for the actual IB exams. This will be an opportunity to practice this skill.

  • Each subject area has determined the testing parameters for their class. Some will opt for an open book test, and others may have it be more collaborative or a project. Your teachers will share how they will be moving forward with you in class.

Our goal with this assessment is to understand better how we can help you and provide you with an opportunity to practice taking exams. We want to remove your anxiety and help you to focus on working together. We also want you to come to school to take the exam, as this is what will need to happen when you take your IB exams.
