Secondary Principal’s Blog

October 7, 2022, Update

Christina Powers, Secondary School Principal

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the ISY community for their support and guidance over the years.  As Dr. Hedger has previously mentioned, after 9 years of contributing to the ISY community, I will be transitioning back to my home country to be with my family and will leave you in the capable hand of Mr. Mike Simpson. As the secondary principal and a parent within the community, over the years, we have together weathered changes, and significant challenges. However, regardless of what we were going through, the support of our parents has been unwavering. I can not thank you enough for your communication, trust, and commitment to helping ensure ISY remains an outstanding academic institution.  It has been an honor to have been a part of ISY’s community.  Thank you for helping make ISY special.

I trust that our community will continue to collaborate with Mr. Simpson as he leads the secondary school forward.  Mr. Simpsosn and I have worked together for the last 5 years. His in-depth knowledge, passion, and commitment makes him well suited for this transition.

Thank you once again.

Important Events this Upcoming Week

 Thadingyut Holiday

October 10 – 14, 2022

No School for Students

Student ID Cards and Bracelets
As a reminder from October 24th, ISY will begin using the turnstiles again so all students and community members will need their ID to enter the campus.  Any student in Grades 7, 8, 10 or 12 who has lost their ID needs to contact the Secondary Office to request a new ID.  Parents who need a new ID card should contact the security team (security@isyedu.org).

International Day Cultural Show

During International Day there will be a cultural show in the evening.  The Cultural Show is a chance to celebrate ISY’s student diversity and provide an opportunity for students to share dances, songs, or other acts connected to their culture. A form with more details will be sent out after the break to sign up an act.  Each performance should be no more than three minutes in length and must involve more than one student.
