The Mississippi Challenge
Launch Day!
On Saturday morning – May 28th, Dr. Hedger and his son Max started on their summer challenge to canoe the Mississippi River. Below is a video of their launch and then two maps from the first two days.
Day 1
They started at Lake Bemidji. Their actual travel time was around 11 hours. The weather was good but there were lots of mosquitos to put up with.
Day 2
The highlight of today was crossing Lake Winnibigoshish against some tough headwinds which is the biggest lake the river passes through. They were both completely exhausted by the end of the day!
