Code of Conduct

 

SEASAC code of conduct for athletes

  1. Place academic achievement as the highest priority.
  2. Show respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and coaches.
  3. Respect the integrity and judgment of officials.
  4. Exhibit fair play, sportsmanship, and proper conduct at all times.
  5. Maintain a high level of safety awareness.
  6. Refrain from the use of profanity, vulgarity, or other offensive behaviors.
  7. Adhere to the established rules and standards of the game to be played.
  8. Respect all equipment and use it safely and appropriately.
  9. Refrain from the use of alcohol, tobacco, illegal and non-prescriptive drugs, anabolic steroids, or any substance to increase physical development or performance.
  10. Follow all state, section, and school athletic rules and regulations as they pertain to eligibility and sports participation.
  11. Win with character, lose with dignity.

SEASAC code of conduct for coaches

  1. Abide by the content and intent of the SEASAC Constitution, Handbook, Playing Regulations, and Appendices.
  2. Accept and support the rules governing the sport and those responsible for administering the rules.
  3. Prepare participants with regard to the behaviour expected of them at a SEASAC event.
  4. Cooperate with fellow coaches, tournament directors, and officials in the performance of their duties.
  5. Exemplify ethical behaviours, including honesty, integrity, fair play, and sportsmanship.
  6. Be generous in winning and graceful in losing.
  7. Refrain from humiliating other teams either verbally or through results. Winning is desirable, but to win at any cost defeats the purpose of the game and is in conflict with the spirit of fellowship of SEASAC.
  8. Accept responsibility for the conduct of his/her athletes and promote appropriate behavior at all times.
  9. Keep his/her coaching function in proper personal and professional perspective.

SEASAC code of conduct for parents

  1. I won’t pressure my child in any way; I know that this is their sport, not mine.
  2. I will use appropriate language and never harass another player, coach, official, or other spectator.
  3. I will never argue with an official or administrator. If I disagree with a decision, I will inform the coach or manager after the competition. I will encourage my child to compete within the rules and respect officials’ and coaches’ decisions.
  4. I will teach my child to respect the efforts of their opponents.
  5. I will applaud good plays/performances by both my child’s team and their opponents and be a positive role model.
  6. I will thank the coaches, officials, and other volunteers for giving their time.
  7. I will help when asked by a coach or official.
  8. I won’t criticize or ridicule my child’s performance after the game.
  9. I will respect the rights, dignity, and worth of all people involved.
