Service!

June 2, 2023
It has been a very busy week in the Secondary School with a strong focus on service learning.
Our Middle School students have been busy developing plans of action in preparation for Tuesday’s iMPAT festival (see below for details) and our Grade 9 and 10 students spent three very worthwhile days actioning plans that had been developed by ISY students throughout the year (see below for details).
Service learning will continue to be a big focus for us next year. This week was a very good reminder to our students of what they are capable of and what a force for postive change they can be.

Middle School iMPACT Festival
ISY Gym
Tuesday, June 6, 11:00am to 12:30pm
On Tuesday, June 6, we will have our Middle School iMPACT Festival. This year’s student developed festival theme is ‘With greater consumption, comes greater responsibility.’
In the lead up to this festival, students have been investigating the iMPACT of how we consume media, food, fashion, and more. In iMPACT groups, students will present their plans of action to promote positive and sustainable consumption to the community in the iMPACT Festival.
Parents are invited to attend the iMPACT festival between 11:00am and 12:30pm on Tuesday, June 6.
Grade 9 and 10 Service Projects
This Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, our Grade 9 and 10 students took part in student-designed service projects. These projects were the idea of ISY students and all Grade 9 and 10 ISY students together to help these ideas become reality.
Students worked in groups making sleeping frames, bamboo playground equipment, mosquito nets, upcycled soft toys, and murals. All of these items were made with the help of children from our Chinthe Fund project partner, Care to the Least Center (CLC). These items will be donated to CLC and it was wonderful to have them alongside our students in making them. Thank you to our Parent Association for donating funds to purchase the necessary materials.
Students also baked for this morning’s Parent Appreciation celebration, made garden boxes to support ISY’s environmental efforts on campus, painted fences at the Yangon Animal Shelter, and brought our Peace Garden back to life.
It was great to see our students getting their hands dirty and working hard for others! We are very proud of their efforts.
Thank you, parents!
Last week, our parents appreciated our teachers. This morning, teachers and students appreciated our parents! It was lovely to share breakfast with our parents – complete with student made treats and musical performance.
We value our partnership with you, our parents, and are always grateful for your support of our school. Thank you to all of you!
