Swim Team
Last Friday ISY hosted its second friendly invitational swim meet. In attendance at the meet were, Network International School, ILBC International School, My Myanmar International School, Alba International School, MLA International School and Heroes International School. This was the biggest swim meet held at ISY since the school reopened and it was a huge success.
The place to be on Friday night was the ISY pool. It was really great to see so many athletes and supporters in the pool area. I almost had to put out the “Sold Out” sign because there were so many people. And, with so many people comes a great atmosphere. The pool was rocking!
This was very exciting for our swimmers and this sort of support always gives an athlete a boost.
Most of our swimmers recorded personal best times and were competitive in all of their races. All of our swimmers had a good time.
I want to thank all the volunteers, coaches and parents that came out on Friday evening. I also want to thank the athletes for doing their best in training and on competition day.
Here are the training times for our elementary, middle and high school swim teams.
ES Swim Team:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 2:20-3:20 PM
MS and HS Swim Team:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 3:30-5:00 PM
Tuesday and Thursday 6:45-7:45 AM
SEASAC Information
On Thursday morning, ISY will be sending four teams to various SEASAC events/tournaments in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. These events will be SEASAC girls and boys basketball, SEASAC girls touch rugby and the SEASAC arts festival.
The boys basketball and girls touch rugby teams will both play their tournaments in Singapore. Boys basketball will play at the Australian International School and girls touch rugby will be played at United World College East.
The girls basketball and arts festival will both be held in Kuala Lumpur. The girls basketball will be held at Kuala Lumpur Alice Smith School and the arts festival will be held jointly between Garden International School and Mont’ Kiara International School.
It is exciting for our arts festival students because this is the first time since 2019 that a SEASAC Arts Festival has been held. I am very happy that ISY has an arts contingent for this returning event.
I am sure you will all join me in wishing all of our students the very best of luck and skill at these events.
What is SEASAC?
The Southeast Asian Student Activities Conference is the athletics and activities conference that ISY belongs to outside of Myanmar. Each year ISY sends students to athletic, Model United Nations conferences and arts festivals. These events are a very valuable opportunity for our students to connect with other like minded students across Southeast Asia. This section in the Athletics and Activities blog will outline some of the important information and general happenings around SEASAC events.
