    High School Athletics

On Wednesday ISY hosted our cross town rivals, Yangon International School. YIS would send two very different teams for our basketballers to play against. Their boys team would be very young with no grade 11 or 12 students in their ranks. Whereas their girls team had both height and experience.

The ISY girls had their work cut out for them in their match. ISY were down three key players, who usually provide the impetus of the scoring. This meant that other players in the team would have to fill the scoring gap. The girls started well but soon found themselves down on the scoreboard. Our lady Chinthes each individually played outstandingly well. They played hard and pressured YIS into multiple mistakes. They rebounded well and contested every loose ball. However, YIS’s experience and height would win out the day. ISY made enough chances but couldn’t score the shots that they usually would have. The final score was 19-29.

The boys had a very different match to the girls. YIS had a very young team and would struggle right from the start. The final score ended 67-3. This game would give our boys a practice run type of situation and a chance to try new and different things. YIS should be commended for trying their best right up until the final buzzer in a game that would obviously be difficult for them. They showed signs that they should have a good basketball program in the future.
