A Roaring Success – Family Fun Fair

Hello Chinthe Community

Last weekend’s Family Fun Fair was a roaring success, bringing the ISY community together for an afternoon of excitement, connection and purpose. As always, the Ferris wheel was the most popular ride, but there were plenty of other activities for people to enjoy. The Family Fun Fair is a great opportunity for members of the ISY community to come together and have fun – play in the bouncy castle, dunk a teacher, buy a book, eat delicious food, enjoy the singers at the talent show, or get up on stage and join in the faculty singalong. Another purpose of the Family Fun Fair is to showcase the good work being done by ISY’s students in their service learning groups. As well as raising awareness of ISY’s service learning programme, we also raised money for the Chinthe Fund and other ISY service learning groups. Well done, ISY students!

You may have noticed guests from our Chinthe Fund partners on campus. Over 80 children from the Care to the Least Center (CLC) and Kalitaw School came to ISY to join in the fun. Before the gates opened, these children had lunch with their ISY hosts – Grade 4 students and members of the elementary school Chinthe Fund group. After lunch, they had a medical check-up and a vaccination. Four grade 11 students took on positions of responsibility by helping in the clinic.

As I went around the campus, I was proud of ISY’s compassionate students. I spoke to a number of parents and they all had big smiles on their faces. A heartfelt thank you to everyone – students, staff and teachers – who helped organize and run this unforgettable event. The Chinthes truly roared!
