A Shot at a Healthier Future

On February 15, 2025, the Myanmar Children Healthcare Project (MCHP) reached another milestone on their journey to making a difference in healthcare, starting with Tha Thana Gone Yi Monastery School. The goal of MCHP is to provide vaccinations and health education to partner organizations and increase awareness about the importance of vaccinations in preventing disease.
With the support of certified medical professionals, MCHP members assisted in administering hepatitis B vaccines to 73 children. To create a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere, MCHP members handed out candies to the children after they received their vaccines, a small gesture that was met with big smiles and excitement. In addition to providing vaccinations, MCHP volunteers also gave a presentation about hepatitis B, covering transmission, prevention, and the significance of immunization. The session aimed to equip students with valuable knowledge about health issues.
Following the vaccinations and health education session, MCHP members had the opportunity to participate in a ceremony led by the head nun of the monastery. This moment of reflection allowed members to appreciate the impact of their service and strengthen their connection with the local community.
The success of this vaccination trip reaffirmed MCHP’s commitment to public health and service learning. By combining medical awareness with education and community engagement, this event highlighted issues of access to healthcare. As MCHP looks ahead, we aim to organize more vaccination trips and expand our efforts to improve healthcare access for children in Myanmar.
