Athletics and Activities
Dear Chinthes,
Welcome back from the Thingyan break. I hope that you are all a little more rested leading into the last stretch until the end of the year. Speaking of which, there are six more weeks until the end of the school year so this might be a good time to try out the school’s wonderful facilities. If you would like to use any of the school’s facilities please read the Facilities section below. There you will find information on the times the facilities are available and how to book your space, date and time. If you like it, keep going because the facilities will be open throughout the summer holiday.
Athletics seems to have slowed down a little as we near the end of the year but don’t tell that to our badminton teams. Our middle and high school teams are currently training hard for their end of season events. The middle school team will play on May 8 at ILBC and the high school team will play on May 18 at ISY. Both the middle and high school teams are bringing good form into these events, and I know that I am looking forward to seeing how ISY does.
After school activities have finished for the year however there are some groups that are continuing for a little longer. You should have received information if your child’s group is continuing for longer.
The ISY Football Mini-league has successfully started this week and I am pleased to say that my Green machine team had a good first up win. The mini-league carries on today, Monday and Tuesday, then takes a break until after high school exams have finished. Here is a link to the draw so you can come by on game days and support your team.
On May 2, the ISY grade 4 and 5 basketball team will play a friendly tournament against Yangon International School and International School Myanmar. This will be a round robin tournament so our young athletes will play two games. The tournament will start approximately 3:15 PM. The games are to promote the understanding of playing in a competitive environment of refs, coaches, supporters and subbing, yet without the pressure of keeping score.

This year they will cover our high school athletics for the whole year. If you are interested in this please follow the link below and this will lead you to the group’s Youtube page. So far the group has covered two high school volleyball games and some of the high school basketball games from last year.
