Jonathan O’Sullivan –  Athletics and Activities Coordinator

Dear Chinthes,

The first full week of school has been completed. It has been a full week of high school athletics as some of our teams have started practicing with some middle school teams starting next week. Swim tryouts were held this week and another trial day will be next week. Please read below for high school and middle school athletics and swim team information. Also, please look at our new SEASAC (Southeast Asian Student Activities Conference) section for any dates and information around SEASAC.
Another important part of school life here at ISY is after school activities (ASAs). ASAs give all our students an opportunity to experience service learning opportunities as well as different cultural and sports activities.
ASAs will start next week. Please read the ASA section below for more information about ASA times, days and places.

After School Activities

On Monday 28th August, the first session of After School Activities will begin. You may check the confirmed After School Activities lists students have successfully registered for in PowerSchool. Elementary School students will meet after school outside the Elementary School main building and their ASA instructors will pick them up from there. All Secondary Students should note the location of their ASA and go directly there for a 2:40 start.

ASA Times:

Elementary school ASAs 2:25-3:05

Middle and high school ASAs 2:40-3:25

    SEASAC Information

The Southeast Asian Student Activities Conference is the athletics and activities conference that ISY belongs to outside of Myanmar. Each year ISY sends students to athletic, Model United Nations conferences and arts festivals. These events are a very valuable opportunity for our students to connect with other like minded students across Southeast Asia. This section in the Athletics and Activities blog will outline some of the important information and general happenings around SEASAC events.
Volleyball and football teams have started their trials/training for the upcoming SEASAC season. The students are looking forward to the chance of representing ISY internationally. Over the next two months these young athletes will be showing discipline when training with their respective teams.
SEASAC golf and SEASAC cross country signup sheets have been taken down. If you still would like to sign up for either of these two teams it is not too late.
Note, golf and cross country do not conflict with volleyball or football.
