Elementary School Athletics
The ISY high school student run Community Sport Club has organized an elementary school football tournament for ISY students. This tournament was held on Monday, December 4 and continues on December 11.
On Monday the second day of the ISY football mini-league was held. This was for students in grade 2-6. This was organized by high school students in the Community Sport Club. The players were placed into fair teams and played a round robin league style event with playoff games to find the winners.
Congratulations to all students that played in this mini-league. The games were played in good spirits with sportsmanship and trying your best, the two main ideals for the tournament.
Middle School Athletics
Volleyball
On Friday evening ISY was represented by our girls and boys middle school volleyball teams. The tournament was held at ILBC International School. This was the final tournament for the middle school volleyball season.
The boys had only one loss this year and were tournament favorites. However, they were made to work for their wins. The boys played two games to three sets against Yangon International School and ILBC. Both of these games finished 2-1. The next game against International School Myanmar was a bit more of an easy game with ISY winning 2-0. This meant that ISY boys would finish first for the season.
For the girls it was an exciting afternoon from start to finish. The ISY girls team played some of their best volleyball of the season in this tournament. ISY beat ILBC in the opening match 2-1 but came up short against YIS 0-2. Then finished with the most exciting match of the tournament with everyone in attendance cheering for both teams, unfortunately for the ISY team they were not able to overcome ISM’s consistent play going down 1-2. ISY girls took third place.
Football
With the successful close of the middle school volleyball season the middle school football season starts. Training will start in January and be similar to volleyball and basketball.
Training will start January 10 and be on Wednesday and Friday, 2:40-3:40 and after ASAs start Wednesday 2:40-3:40 and Friday 3:30-4:30.
Just like the previous MS seasons, anyone that signs up can come to training. We want you all to come along, improve your skills and have fun.
The girls and boys team will train separately, using half the field for the girls and half for the boys.
Also, like previous seasons, teams will be selected to play against the other Yangon Athletic Conference schools. We will play home and away games and then an end of season tournament.
A sign up form was sent to all middle school students on Monday. Please use that form to sign up if you are interested.
If you have any questions please email me.

Softball
On Sundays at the American Club our girls and boys softball teams play in the Yangon International Softball League, YISL. This league has been running for a long time and is a great way to play this wonderful sport and meet new people from all over the city.
The ISY girls team played first on Sunday in a mixed game. This is where they mix the team with ISY boys.
After that game the ISY boys played. They had a great win against an older, more experienced team. This was one of the best games that the boys have played this season and it shows the great skills that this team is developing.
Both teams will take a break until January 13 when practices start again and January 14 when the next round of games in the YISL will be played.
