Dear ISY Community,
The Power of Team Sports: More Than Just the Game
Being part of a team—whether in sports, the arts, or other activities—helps students grow in ways that go far beyond the game or performance. It builds resilience, teamwork, and leadership, teaching students how to communicate, solve problems, and support one another.
Sports teams, in particular, provide a space for students to challenge themselves, set goals, and learn how to win and lose with grace. They develop discipline, time management, and a sense of responsibility—skills that will serve them long after their playing days are over.
Most importantly, being part of a team creates a sense of belonging. Students form lasting friendships, learn to trust each other, and experience the joy of working toward a common goal. At ISY, we believe in the power of teams to strengthen individuals, and we encourage every student to get involved, whether on the field, the stage, or anywhere in between.
A Great Day of Chess at ISY
This week, ISY had the privilege of hosting a Chess Tournament in collaboration with Master Brain Chess Academy. It was a fantastic day of strategy, competition, and community, with students from multiple schools coming together to put their minds to the test. ISY players performed exceptionally well, demonstrating both skill and sportsmanship—whether they won or lost, they carried themselves with grace.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing our students, after finishing their rounds, gathering on the football field to continue playing with students from other schools. This sense of connection and shared passion for the game was a true reflection of what makes events like this so special.
Chess is more than just a game; it sharpens critical thinking, enhances problem-solving skills, and teaches patience and resilience. We were thrilled to provide this opportunity not only for our students but also for the wider community. A huge thank you to Master Brain Chess Academy for their partnership and to all the players who made the tournament a success!
