Greetings, ISY Community,

First Internal Swim Meet – Friday, October 4
Next week, we are hosting our first Internal Swim Meet of the year on Friday, October 4th. Both our elementary and secondary swim teams will be competing, and we can’t wait to see them in action! Whether you’re a swim enthusiast or just looking to cheer on your classmates, we welcome all students and families to come out and show your support. Let’s make this a great event for our swimmers!
The Mental Health Benefits of Sports and Activities
Engaging in sports and extracurricular activities isn’t just about physical fitness; it’s also crucial for mental well-being. Research shows that regular participation in physical activities can reduce stress, enhance mood, and improve overall mental health. The camaraderie built through teamwork and the discipline gained from training can also boost self-esteem and resilience.
To learn more about the mental health benefits of sports and activities, check out these resources:
- Mental Health Foundation: Explores how exercise can help reduce anxiety and depression.
- American Psychological Association: Discusses the psychological benefits of exercise.
- Harvard Medical School: Explains how exercise impacts mental health.
- National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): Emphasizes the mental health benefits of non-physical activities like arts, music, and other creative outlets.
Encouraging our students to balance academics with activities can significantly contribute to their well-being, and we’re proud to offer a wide range of programs that support both mental and physical health.
