Athletics Blog – November 4
Lisa Isom, Athletics Director
November is a Busy Month…but aren’t they all?
I am beginning to notice a pattern with my weekly blog: I often bring up how busy the upcoming week will be, while celebrating the previous week’s successes.
I saw a meme recently that said, “Adulthood means saying ‘things will slow down next week’ over and over until you die.” I would like to amend that a bit: “Being a teacher/student at ISY means saying ‘things will slow down next week’ over and over until summer break.”
We never get bored around here and we always have something great to look forward to and some success to celebrate. So with that said, let’s take a look at the upcoming week…
SEASAC Soccer & Volleyball Teams Travel This Week
The SEASAC boys and girls volleyball and soccer teams depart Thursday for tournaments in Singapore and Bangkok respectively. The action will begin Friday and run through the weekend. Live feeds will be available and will be shared with the ISY community later this week. Let’s wish the teams good luck this week. Go CHINTHES!
Cross Country & Soccer Tournament Results
Orion ’23, Raphael ’23 and Manraj ’23 swept the podium at Saturday’s Cross Country race at Dulwich College Star City. On a very hot morning, the boys took the lead from the start and finished well ahead of the pack.
On the girls’ side, Nicole ’21 and Su ’23 took the top two spots on the podium, with Nicole leapfrogging many of the boys in the race as well. Overall, this was a great even to prepare the team for their SEASAC tournament at the end of November in Kuala Lumpur.
The boys JV & V and girls V soccer teams went out to South Dagon on Friday night and Saturday morning for the All-City Tournament. Our girls’ team swept the tournament and brought home the championship trophy. The boys’ varsity team made it to the final match and lost on penalties – taking 2nd place over all.
