COUNSELOR’S CORNER

How ISY Strives to Protect and Support Students

At ISY, student safety is a top priority, and our comprehensive child protection policy reflects our commitment to creating a secure and supportive environment. We implement protective measures at multiple levels, each designed to deter potential harm from various angles, ensuring a solid foundation of safety for all students.

  1. Staff and Volunteer Training

Our first line of defense is educating and empowering all ISY staff and volunteers. Every year, staff members receive mandatory training on child protection protocols and reporting requirements. Additionally, all staff pledge to adhere to a strict code of conduct, reinforcing a shared commitment to student safety and accountability.

  1. Recruitment and Transparency

ISY’s commitment to student protection is communicated openly through our website and other publications. This transparency serves as a clear deterrent to anyone seeking to harm students. We conduct thorough background checks on all potential employees and include safeguarding-focused questions in the interview process to ensure that all staff members prioritize student welfare.

  1. Student Empowerment Through Education

Our counseling department plays a vital role in equipping students with knowledge and skills to protect themselves. Through our safeguarding curriculum, students learn about important topics such as assertiveness, recognizing abuse, anti-bullying, and digital citizenship. This curriculum not only raises awareness but also empowers students to take an active role in their own safety and well-being.

If you have questions or would like further information on ISY’s child protection efforts, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Patty at escounselor@isyedu.org.
