Schedule:
3:15-3:30pm: All students arrive to gym
4pm: Parade of Nations
4:30pm: Country Booths open
4:30-6pm: Raffle Tickets sold
5:30pm: Cultural Show
Parade of Nations
The eldest student from any given nation will carry the flag for that country.
If a student would like to walk with a country other than their noted nationality, please email Communications Associate, Ivy Kuhn by Friday, January 24. Her email is ikuhn@isyedu.org
Cultural Show
The Cultural Show is a chance to celebrate ISY’s student diversity and provide an opportunity for students to share dances, songs, or other acts connected to their culture. The act should be no longer than 3 minutes in length and ideally be a group piece involving several students.
To participate in the cultural show, please sign-up here by Friday, January 24.
If you are part of a group please have only one person fill out the form. If there is a country coordinator parent running your rehearsals, pease note they have already been asked to fill out the form for your group. Please check to confirm they have done so.
There are a limited number of spaces and signing up does not automatically mean you will perform. You will get an email notice after January 24 if your act has been approved. The act order and list will be determined once we have everyone’s responses.
There is a mandatory dress rehearsal the day before the cultural show, Fri, Feb 14 for all participating groups. It will be after school.
Kind regards,
ISYPA Board
Raffle Tickets
Raffle tickets (1,000 MMK each) can be bought on the day itself but also in advance at the business office and from a variety of parent association parents. Good Luck!
Reduce Single-Use Plastic
One of ISY’s objectives as a school is to strive to become a community of nurturing global citizens who are environmentally conscious. For this to happen, we need the help of the community. As most of us are aware, Yangon is faced with the issue of increasing single-use plastic usage, which has lead to harmful waste all around our homes, as well as on campus. ISY is dedicated to doing our part to reduce the use of single-use plastic and kindly request that you are mindful of plastic usage on International Day. It would be greatly appreciated if we can break previous habits of serving cultural food on plastic plates and utensils and instead try to use more biodegradable products.
There will also be water stations to refill water bottles around campus. Thank you!
Thanks from Eco Schools and the ISY Environmental Committee
Traditional Clothes for a Photobooth
This year there will be a photobooth where children and adults can dress up in traditional clothes from around the world. The PA kindly requests any traditional clothing items that can be borrowed for the day. Please contact paboard@isyedu.org if you have something you might be able to lend.
