The ISY Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 6:30 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room. The purpose of the AGM is to present an overview of the 2023-24 school year and to elect new members to the Board of Trustees.

Two positions on the ISY Board of Trustees will be up for election at the Annual General Meeting. Profiles of the candidates for this year’s election can be seen below. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance of the school. This includes articulating long-term vision, setting policy, safeguarding financial integrity, and protecting the school from risk. The Board also adopts the annual budget, sets tuition and fee scales, and approves major facilities improvement projects. Finally, the Board selects, hires, supports, and evaluates the ISY Director, who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school. In-person voting will occur at the AGM on Monday, May 13, 2024. If you cannot attend, please complete the Absentee Ballot Declaration Form and the Absentee Ballot sheet. These will be available to complete from April 29, 2024 until May 13, 2024 from Swe Zin Aye at the ISY, ‘B’ Building. The Absentee Ballot Declaration Form and the Absentee Ballot sheet must be completed in ‘B’ Building at ISY.

During the meeting, the election by acclamation of two new ISY Board members will be finalized. This post has been populated with the introductions of the board candidates.  

The new candidates for the ISY Board of trustees are:

Anamika Dinodiya Agarwal

Kunsuk has been fortunate to be raised, not only in Korea, but also abroad during his youth in Germany, and Singapore. He attended various International Schools, where he gained valuable experience in becoming a truly global citizen. After graduating from Yonsei University, Seoul, Republic of Korea, Kunsuk gained further international experience over 20 years, working in Hong Kong, and Geneva, Switzerland. He currently works as the General Manager in a global multinational company here in Yangon.  He is very proud to send his children to this school and he is fully supportive of ISY’s clear mission and vision. Kunsuk is motivated to contribute to the ISY Board of Trustees to help shape the future of ISY, and make a positive impact in this role. Kunsuk has two sons at ISY, Justin in Grade 6, and Philip in Grade 3.

Anamika is an alumni who graduated from ISY in 2006, after spending 12 years as a student studying here. She went on to further her education, gaining a Master of Arts in Mass Communications from Oklahoma City University.  Anamika is currently the Director of The Coriander Leaf Restaurant, and Delhi Deli here is Yangon. She is also the Chairperson of the Ladies Circle India, again in Yangon. She would like the opportunity to help ISY on the next chapter of its journey.  Anamika has two children attending ISY, Shanaiya in Kindergarten, and Shivansh, who will be attending Chinthe Cubs 4 starting in August, 2024.

Please note:

  • ISY Board policy states that no nationality can make up more than 50% of the governing body. Taking into account the existing makeup of the board, only one of the newly elected positions can be a Myanmar national.
  • Each ISY Association Member (who is a parent with a child currently enrolled at ISY) may vote for two candidates.
