KNOWLEDGE SHARING

ISY Faculty Leading the Way

ISY is not only a place of learning for students, it is also a place of learning for the faculty and staff.  ISY faculty learn new things while teaching but also while engaging in professional development opportunities where they can learn from each other and from people outside of ISY.  Equally, we like to share waht we have learned with other teaching professionals in the hope that students and other schools can benefit from our knowledge.  ISY’s excellent  reputation has led to quite a number of these opportunities recently.

On March 14th and 15th there was a conference called ‘International Schools Asia Conference’ held in Bangkok.  This conference focussed on the South East Asian region showcasing successes in education and also talking about some of the challenges of setting up schools in this area. Dr. Hedger was invited to speak on the important topic of ‘Managing a School in Crisis’.

This week (March 23rd – March 25th, 2023) the East Asia regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) is holding it’s 18th annual conference.  Two of our memebers of faculty have been invited to present at the conference.  Ms. Ruth Farkas, our Pre-K teacher will be speaking about ‘Learning Stories’ in the lower elementary school.  Ms. Rentia Smith, our High School Biology teacher will be presenting a talk entitled, ‘How to Differentiate Without Driving Yourself Crazy’.

Finally, next month, our very own High School Counselor, Mr. AG will be hosting. a’fireside’ chat called ‘Developing a School Counselor Network’.  He has been invited by the International Schools Research agency, ISC Research, to talk about his successes in developing a counselor network to help improve counseling services and employ best practices in a network of schools.
