International Women’s Day is March 8, 2020
Purpose: “International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality.” Traditionally ISY has chosen guest speakers who are influential Myanmar women who have worked hard at overcoming obstacles. ISY International day speakers are role models who have made a difference in their local community. This special day connects with our SDG’s “Gender equality” and “reduce inequality.”
As this years speaker the Secondary School will welcome Khaing Wai Hnin on Thursday, 27 February during the advisory period to be our guest speaker. Khaing works at Bokashi Myanmar, educating about the connections between healthy soil and healthy people. With degrees in both medical technology and environmental studies, she understands the benefits of returning plants to the soil. Hear ISYs celebration of one woman’s impact on her community. Join Bokashi’s #SoilRevolution, #StoptheBurn.
