February 28, 2020, Update

Christina Powers, Secondary School Principal

Congratulations to our ISY Chinthes for winning first place in the YAC Basketball Tournament on Thursday, February 27, 2020. Both games were close and filled with passion and determination. Thank you to all those who came and cheered on our Chinthes

“Be the Change You Want to See” on Thursday, during advisory, Khaing Wai Hnin from Bokashi Myanmar shared with students her environmental passions as well as the challenges she has had pursuing her passions. We were honored to have her inspirational story shared. Girls Up (Service Learning Organisation) will be following up on the presentation next week in Advisory to conclude our women’s day celebration. The official ‘International Women’s Day is March 8, 2020-Purpose: “International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality.”

Holiday: Monday, March 2nd is a holiday for Peasants Day.  There will be no school.

Campus Access:  We would like to remind you that visitors to the ISY campus need to confirm that they have not been to China, or knowingly come into contact with people who have travelled from China in the last 14 days.  Additionally, we are now asking that the same conditions apply to anyone coming from South Korea on or after Tuesday, 25th February. People who have transited through airports in these places are OK to come on to campus.

Students who have travelled from either of these areas need to report to the ISY Clinic.   This is in line with guidance that ISY is receiving from International Health Authorities with whom we are in daily contact.

This and other updates can be found on the website on our health clinic page.

Mock Exams for Year 12 have, upon student request, been postponed to begin on March 12th.

Grade 12 students: Students can pick up the graduation cap and gown from the secondary school office.

Family Fun Night – March 7, 2020: On Saturday 7th March we will be holding the Family Fun night where ISY will be raising funds for the United World Schools project.  The purchase of an entrance ticket entitles access to team games/sports, video games, movies & the board games room. Some activities require booking and additional payment due to high demand.

The entrance fee is a donation. We suggest the following; 5,000 Ks per student, 10,000 Ks per adult OR 15,000 Ks per family. Read up on the latest news about UWS here.
