ISY’s Service Action Afternoon
January 24, 2020
Making a difference through meaningful service is one way to enhance learning. In an effort to be a leader in Service Learning, the ISY secondary school will be taking the afternoon of January 24, 2020 and dedicating time to the “Action” stage of the 5 stages of service learning.
Over the course of this school year many of our students have engaged in activities where they utilize these five stages in order to make better informed decisions resulting in positive impacts on our local and global communities. Students are deepening their understanding and commitment to making a difference as well as developing the tools to make it happen. As service learning is at the heart of ISY and is highly valued we will be providing students time within the school day to take action and make a positive impact.
On the afternoon of January 24th, after the annual Olympiad, secondary students will engage in a “Service Action Afternoon”. Their actions will vary depending on the students’ service learning ASA and/or their area of interest. Some actions will take place off campus, in addition, the ending time of each activity may vary. Notification of your child’s action choice and the details of his/her activity will be emailed to parents / guardians by January 20th, 2020.
