This week, our Grade 12 IB Diploma Art students, like our Grade 10 World Studies students last week, exhibited their work.

Again, like I was with the Grade 1o students, I was impressed and inspired by the enthusiasm they showed for their subject. And again, I was impressed by the connections these art students made to other subjects in explaining the meaning behind their work and the decisions they made in creating it.

They had clearly applied what they had learnt in English, math, psychology, science, film, photography, and more to their art. These students have already been accepted to university and will study in fields as varied as engineering, video game design, literature, and art itself.

At ISY, we strongly believe that if a student can make connections to what they learn in one subject to another subject, they really understand what they are learning in both subjects! And it will also make it much more likely that the student will be apply what they have learned at ISY to different contexts well into the future.

It is very important that we give our students as many opportunities as we can to make these connections and it so pleasing to see these students making them so effortlessly at the end of their ISY experience. It is also exciting to think how they will apply what they have learned in their art classes in the future. In the meantime, their work will be on show in on Multi-Purpose Room next week and I encourage you all to check it out.

Dental Care for our Chinthe Fund Partners

As part of our ongoing commitment to community partnership and service through the Chinthe Fund, we are pleased to share an exciting initiative taking place next week.

Thanks to this year’s student-led service learning health focus, Evergreen Dental Care Clinic has generously volunteered its time and services to provide dental check-ups for students from our Chinthe Fund partner organizations, Kalihtaw School and the Care to the Least Center. These check-ups will take place next week during the ISY school day, and the students will be transported from ISY to Evergreen Dental Care Clinic.

While on campus, we are proud to welcome these students into our classrooms. This experience not only supports their health needs but also offers a valuable opportunity for our students to build deeper, more meaningful connections with our Chinthe Fund partners. These moments allow us to learn from one another and strengthen the spirit of compassion and mutual respect that is central to our school’s mission.

Football Pitch Update

Our football pitch will undergo important resurfacing work and will be unavailable for the next four weeks starting on Tuesday, March 25. This maintenance is essential to ensure the turf remains in top condition. The work needs to be completed before the rainy season begins.

Artificial turf needs to be replaced approximately every 9 years, and this work will help maintain a high-quality playing surface for everyone. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.
