It was great to see our students celebrating the start of the Thingyan holiday and we are very grateful to our Parent Association and ISY parents who organized all the fun today.

Also today, our Grade 12 students began their study leave in preparation for their final IB Diploma exams. We are very proud of our Seniors and we are sure that you will all join us in wishing them all the very best of luck.

We would like to wish you all an enjoyable and restful Thingyan break. We look forward to seeing you again on Tuesday, April 18 as we move into a busy end of the year.

Les Monsieur Monsieur

On Wednesday we were treated to a performance from two Swiss composers, vocalists and interpreters from French-speaking Switzerland.
Laurent and Mario perform under the name Les Monsieur Monsieur and are true ambassadors of the Swiss culture abroad. This was their second visit to Myanmar within the framework of the Francophonie – a movement that celebrates and promotes the cultures of French speaking nations around the world.
They performed songs in the four Swiss national languages of French, Italian, Swiss German, and Romansh.

Secondary School Art

Check out the new posts on the Secondary School Art Facebook page.
Great drawings can be done in 2 minutes! We are amazed at the work the Grade 9 artists can do in such a short amount of time.
We are also very proud of our IB Diploma Grade 12 students who exhibited their work last night (see the photo above).

Athletics & Activities Blog

There was heartbreak for the girls and triumph for the boys in the latest high school basketball playoff matches played on Wednesday evening. Please read below for a match report and information on where and when to watch finals this afternoon (Friday).
Our middle school boys football team is currently playing their end of season tournament. Please check out our Athletics & Activities Blog to see how they are doing.

Technology Integration at ISY

ChatGPT

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence language model that is designed to respond to users prompts and questions in a human-like conversational manner. This means that instead of just providing links to where you might be able to find information to answer a question as a search engine like Google does, ChatGPT can answer a question in human-like language in a variety of ways as requested by the user.

ChatGPT is a very powerful tool and, as with any powerful tool, students and teachers must use it with care and for the right purpose. How and why we might use ChatGPT is something schools around the world have been thinking about a lot lately. At ISY we have been thinking about this in terms of our future focused Vision for our students.

Click here for a summary of ISY’s approach to the integration of new technology into the learning process. While this was developed as we considered the role of ChatGPT in our classrooms, this approach can be applied to any technology. We have used the acronym LEARN to organize our thinking:

Science Collaboration

Today our Senior Science students presented to our Grade 5 students. Earlier in the year, our Grade 5 students challenged our Seniors to explain to them some scientific concepts that they had questions about. Today, their questions were answered!
