High School Athletics
During the weekend ISY had three teams entered into the tri-sports tournament, one girls and two boys teams. This tournament is played over three sports but teams only have a roster of up to twelve players for all the sports. This means the athletes need to be multi skilled and fit.
The tournament started with volleyball at International School Myanmar on Saturday morning, football at South Dagon field on Sunday morning and finally basketball on Sunday afternoon at ISY. This proved to be a long and challenging weekend for our athletes but also fun. This weekend also gave our seniors a chance to represent ISY and play with their mates one last time.
The girls team fought hard all weekend and gave a good showing in all the sports. They especially played well in basketball on the final afternoon. The girls would win the basketball but ended up finishing second on the tri-sports table. Well done girls!
ISY had two boys teams in the tournament. One team was made up of seniors and the other team was from lower grades. Both teams played very well over the tournament. So well in fact that it came down to the last game of basketball that ultimately decided the winners. Our ISY lower grades team would end up second and our seniors team would be the 2023 winners. Well done to both boys teams.
This weekend was tough on our young athletes and challenged them. They were tired and sore by the end of it. However, our ISY athletes showed what it means to represent ISY and they played hard and did their best right till the final siren on Sunday evening. All our representatives should be proud of themselves.
May the 1st and 3rd there are public holidays. This will affect some facilities at ISY.
On May the 1st and 3rd the pool and inside gym (basketball courts) will be closed. All other areas will remain open as normal.
All other schedules will remain the same.
