    After School Activities

After school activities will start on Monday, January 29. Please read this section carefully as it contains information for signing up for session 2 After School Activities (ASA). The ASA booklet can be viewed here.
Most ASAs will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week, with a couple of additions on Mondays. Session 2 will begin on Monday, January 29 and will run through to Friday, April 5th.
We are excited to bring back many favorite Service Learning activities, along with some fun movement activities to get our students out of their seats after classes are finished for the day. There are also music offerings, STEM clubs, and arts classes which you can choose. Most ES ASAs will begin at 2:20pm and HS/MS programs will start at 2:40pm. The duration of each activity is 45 minutes.

    ISY After School Activities Process:
On Monday, January 22 at 7pm, After School Activity registration will open on PowerSchool. In order to enable all students to have a chance to get into their top choices, students/parents will only be able to register for two events on the first day. At 7pm on Tuesday, January 23, registration will open up for all remaining activities. Registration will close completely on Wednesday, January 24 at 7pm.
There will be a ‘Waiting List’ option for ASAs that fill up. Students can choose to be added to a waitlist or select a different activity for that day and time. If you choose to be added to the Wait List this will count as one of your two choices for day 1 of registration. From Tuesday, January 23 after 7pm, if you choose to stay on a waitlist, you cannot select another activity for that date/time. Activity waitlists will be looked at to decide if more sessions of any single activity need to be added. Students will be taken off the waitlist and added to the actual activity if spaces become available. Confirmed activities can be viewed on Friday with all of the student’s ASA selections on PowerSchool.

    Swim Team

This is a notice for all swimmers that are not in the swim team but think they could be. There will be trials for the swim team on January 22 and 24. These trials will be held after school.

The criteria for making the swim team is:

    Middle School Volleyball Tournament

    High School Athletics

Last night ISY’s girls and boys high school basketball teams started their Yangon Athletic Conference league. They started with games against ILBC International School. These games were played at ILBC.
In the first game the boys got off to a shaky start, but once the nerves settled ISY took control of the game and built up a lead, maintaining it until the final whistle. The coaches were also given an opportunity to try some new combinations. The players and coaches took away a lot of positives from this game. ISY won 55-25.
The next game would be for the ISY girls. ISY started off with a planned three point play that worked to perfection and ISY never looked back from this point of the game. Seven different players scored in this game which always helps when scoring can be spread out around the court. This game allowed all of the players to get ample playing time and plenty of valuable on court game experience. ISY would win this game 42-14.
We look forward to the next game on January 30 against ISM at ISY.
