Dear Chinithes,

This week our middle school football players start their Yangon Athletic Conference season with a game against Yangon International School. In other athletic news, our high school basketball teams were unable to play their matches due to a referee shortage.
After school activities start next week. Please read below for more details about what you need to know and check before these start.

After School Activities: ASA

After school activities start on Monday the 30th of January. Parents should check on PowerSchool what activities their children are signed up for, what days and times they are and if there are any fees that need to be paid.
Please take care in checking the times for each activity as some activities have different times to others.

Middle School (MS) Athletics

Today our middle school boys team will play their first game of football against the Yangon International School (YIS). The team has looked good at training and will want to put on a good show for their home supporters. The game will start at approximately 3:40.
Unfortunately we are unable to field a girls team for middle school football. However, it is not too late to join. If you are a middle school girl and want to try football, come and join the team. All we need is two or three more players! Please see Mr. O’Sullivan or Coaches Albert or Maung Maung.

High School (HS) Athletics

It was disappointing that we were not able to find referees for our scheduled match against ILBC International School. Our refs canceled the day before and because there was a Yangon wide basketball tournament on at the time, all the other referees were unavailable. The game has been rescheduled for February.
The teams were, however, able to have intersquad games that proved to be very competitive and gave everyone a chance to play.
The basketball teams will now prepare for their SEASAC tournaments on the 2-6 of February. The teams will travel to Bangkok on Thursday morning and come back Sunday night.
Basketball is not the only sport being represented by ISY athletes at next week’s South East Asian Sports and Activities Conference. Boys tennis and girls touch rugby teams are also traveling from February 2-6. The whole ISY community wishes these teams well!

Tennis Court

The tennis court is located at the top of the West side of the SAS building. This facility is for all ISY community members to use. To use this facility you will need to make a booking using the ISY Facilities booking form. The tennis court will be available all day Saturday and Sunday and after 2:30PM on school days. For safety, elementary and middle school students will need to be accompanied by an adult to use the court.
The court is available to book now.

Swim Team

The swimming team will continue their training this new year. The secondary school team trains on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the elementary school team trains on Monday and Friday.
It is not too late to try out for the swim team. If a student is interested they can talk to Coach Chu Chu and arrange a trial swim. All competent swimmers are welcome.

Facility Schedules

The facilities schedule has returned to normal after the December break.
Please remember that if you want to use the new tennis court you must make a booking.

Please remember that to use any of ISY’s facilities you must fill out the booking form.
