Middle School (MS) Athletics

On the 28th of November our middle school volleyball teams started their Yangon Athletic Conference seasons in style. They traveled to Yangon International School (YIS) to play their girls and boys volleyball teams. This proved to be a great opportunity for our young athletes to learn more about the game of volleyball. Thanks to our athletes and their coaches our teams won their games.
The girls and boys won their games in a convincing manner and look forward to their next challenge which will be the return match against YIS, right here at ISY on the 9th of November.

High School Athletics

Football has started at ISY. ISY’s girls and boys high school teams played a friendly match against British School Yangon (BSY) on Tuesday. This was a valuable opportunity to gain more experience of playing together as a team unit.
Our girls team fought very well against a well practiced BSY team. Unfortunately they lost in the final part of the game, 2-3. The athletes learned a lot from this game and they will keep getting better and better as the season continues.
The boys fared a little better coming aways with a comfortable win against BSY. ISY has an experienced group of players and they are gelling nicely as a team. The final score line was 9-0.
Well done to all our players and coaches for putting in the time and effort to represent ISY.
On Thursday our football teams were in action again. This time it was a home game against our cross town rivals, Yangon International School (YIS). The girls played the first game. These were otherwise evenly matched teams except for a couple of experienced players on the YIS side. Their experience made the difference in the end with the YIS girls team beating our ISY team. Our girls fought hard and would have learned a lot from both their games this week.
It was the opposite for the boys’ game. ISY had more experience and worked better as a team with splashes of individual brilliance. Our boys were comfortable winners in the end.
Win or lose, our football players are showing what it is like to play for ISY.
Our footballers will be back in action next week against ILBC International School at ISY on the 8th of November and then they will be playing in a city wide football tournament on the 11th and 12th of November. This tournament will be hosted by YIS.
We look forward to seeing both football teams progress through the season.
The ISY volleyball teams have made a winning start to their SEASAC tournament in Singapore. At the time of writing the girls and boys teams had won their first matches.

ISY Friendship Swim Meet

On the 11th of November ISY will host two other schools at the ISY Friendship Swim Meet. This will be a chance for our swimmers to compete against other swimmers from different schools. Supporters are most welcome to come and cheer on our swimming Chinthes.
The meet will start at 4:00 with warm-ups at 3:30. The meet will conclude at 7:15 with the presentation of the Friendship Cup.
