Athletics & Community Blog
Athletics Blog – August 19th
Lisa Isom, Athletics Director
Dear ISY Community,
As the new Athletic Director, I am excited to be here at ISY and I’m as ready as you are to start the new school year. My first blog post will be a very busy one, with information on secondary and elementary school athletics programs, as well as Session 1 ASAs. I know many parents are also excited to see what the swim programs have to offer this year so there is a special page set aside for that as well.
Session 1 ASAs
As most of you are aware, Session 1 ASA registration begins Monday, August 19th at 7pm.
NEW THIS YEAR: students can only sign up for two ASAs during the first 24-hours (Monday at 7pm through Tuesday at 7pm). This will help ensure that more students have an opportunity to register for their first or second activity choices. At 7:01pm on Tuesday, the registration will allow sign up for as many activities as they can fit into one week. Activities are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will close completely at 7pm Thursday and ASA notifications will go out on Friday. Session 1 ASAs officially begin on Monday, August 26.
Secondary School Sports
High school boys and girls soccer, volleyball, golf and cross country and Middle School basketball begin this week! Middle school athletes are also welcome to join the high school golf and cross country teams. If your child did not add their name to a Team Roster at the ASA Fair on Thursday, please add them now so coaches can be in touch.
Generally, high school practices take place Tuesday/Thursday from 3:45-5:45pm and Middle School practices take place Wednesday/Friday from 3:45-5:45pm. Most teams also have weekend practices. Please note that some practice days and times may change at the coach’s discretion, but this will be communicated in a timely manner.
Weekly Practice Schedules can be found HERE.
High School athletes, musicians, and MUN participants will have an opportunity to compete on the Southeast Asia Student Activities Conference (SEASAC) team for their sport each season. Tryouts are necessary for SEASAC teams and parents will be notified of the costs associated with traveling to a SEASAC tournament.
SEASAC Tournament Schedules can be found HERE.
HS and MS teams will also participate in the Yangon Athletic Conference (YAC). Games will be scheduled at various international schools around the city each week. ISY will also host numerous events.
The YAC Tournament Schedule can be found HERE. The Season 1 YAC Games Schedule can be found HERE.
Swimming ASAs & Swim Team
I know many parents are interested in the swimming programs at ISY. Please check out the following information and make sure to sign up for tryouts (there is a link in the document) if your child is interested in Swim Team.
Session 1 Pool Schedule can be found HERE.
ASA & Swim Team information can be found HERE!
