Athletics Blog – November 18

Lisa Isom, Athletics Director

Session 2 ASAs – Register Today!

As a reminder registration for ASAs will open at 7pm on Monday night, November 18th.  Like last time, and in order to enable all children to have a chance to get into their top choices, students/parents will only be able to register for two events on Monday night.  At 7pm on Tuesday night, registrations will open up for all remaining activities through 5pm Thursday.  Families will receive ASA confirmation emails on Friday. The ASA booklet can be found here.  Session 2 ASAs will begin Monday, 25th November.

NEW Waiting Lists: If an activity fills quickly, parents can elect to add their child to the Waiting List.  If another child drops out of the activity, students on the waiting list will automatically be added to the activity one-by one.

We strongly recommend you login to PowerSchool BEFORE registration opens to test your PowerSchool login.  Before contacting the PowerSchool support team you could take a look at this handy guide on resetting your PowerSchool login.  If that doesn’t work then please contact PowerSchool support at powerschool@isyedu.org.  For questions concerning ASAs contact the Athletics Director, Lisa Isom, lisom@isyedu.org.

ISY Swim Team – Season 2 Registration

The ISY swim team is now a year-round program.  If your child participated during season one, you will receive an email regarding sign-ups for Season 2.  If your child did not participate but would like to tryout* for Season 2, please sign up HERE.  Tryouts will be scheduled for the week of 25 November once we know how big each age group will be.

*Tryouts entail making sure that each child has the ability to swim laps with confidence in the pool and understands the basics of three strokes: breast, back, freestyle.  If your child is unable to swim laps or needs a great deal of work on stroke technique, the Swim ASA for his/her age group is recommended.

If you are unsure if the swim team or the ASA is better for your child, I suggest registering for the swimming ASA, because it will fill up, and then cancel that ASA if your child makes the swim team.

ISY vs BSY Swim Competition

Thanks to everyone who participated in and volunteered at yesterday’s swim meet.  The parent support and the large crowd made the event exciting for all of our swimmers.  To top it all off, ISY had a resounding win over BSY with 343 points to BSY’s 201 points.  The complete results can be found HERE.

You can find photos from the event in the following folder at 16 Nov 2019 Swim Meet Photos

ISY Hosts SEASAC This Week

ISY will host the 2019 SEASAC Golf Tournament at the Pun Hlaing Golf Club November 20-22. Over 100 golfers from 13 teams will converge on one of the most beautiful courses in Myanmar to play for the individual and team titles.  With a school holiday on Thursday, November 21, we are hopeful many students will come out to the course to cheer on (quietly, of course, golf claps only) our CHINTHES.  Check out the ISY SEASAC Website for more information.  Results will be posted starting Thursday afternoon.
