Session 2 ASAs Begin Today!
By now, everyone should have received an email confirmation about their child’s ASAs for session 2. There are still students on our waitling list for a few activities, so if you know your child is registered but is unable to attend or has changed his/her mind, please send me an email.
We were able to use the waiting list to add more activities or more activity spaces in many cases. In other cases, class sizes are limited due to curriculum or venue/instructor availability. We are using the data collected from the waiting list to try to build out our most popular ASAs moving forward.
Your child’s ASAs can be found on your Power School page. Their attendance will be collected here as well. If you have questions about accessing your Power School account, before contacting the PowerSchool support team you could take a look at this handy guide on resetting your PowerSchool login. If that doesn’t work then please contact PowerSchool support at powerschool@isyedu.org. For questions concerning ASAs contact me at lisom@isyedu.org.

For new swimmers, *tryouts will take place this week on the following days/times;
Grade 1-2: Wednesday @ 3pm
Grade 3-5- Wednesday @ 4pm
Grade 6-12 – Tuesday @ 7am OR Wednesday @ 6:15am
*Tryouts entail making sure that each child has the ability to swim laps with confidence in the pool and understands the basics of three strokes: breast, back, freestyle. Here is the format:
Grade 1-2 – 2 x 25 meters any two stokes
Grade 3-5 – 100 meter IM
Grade 6-12 – 100 meter IM
If your child is unable to swim laps or needs a great deal of work on stroke technique, the Swim ASA for his/her age group will be recommended.
ISPP Plunge Swim Competition
ISY sent 27 swimmers in grades 1-12 to the ISPP Plunge international swim competition in Phnom Penh over the weekend. The parent support and the large crowd made the event exciting for all of our swimmers. ISY had a great showing – especially considering that the first time The complete results can be found HERE.
Photos from the event will be posted here later this week!
Athletics This Week
After one very busy week last week, we have no athletic events scheduled this week due in part to the Thanksgiving Holiday, this Thursday through Sunday.
Thanksgiving Holiday Pool Hours
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Friday, there will be NO swim team practice. The swim team has been very busy these past two weeks so we are hopeful swimmers will take this opportunity to get some rest and to get ready for another upcoming busy season.
Lap swim and family swim pool hours are as follows:
Thursday 6-8am & 4-7pm
Friday 6-8am
Saturday 8am-12pm
Swimming Lessons & Mother Tongue Program
Please check out last week’s blog https://isyedu.org/athletics-blog-november-13-2019/ to find out more about upcoming Swimming Lessons for Beginners, and ISY’s Mother Tongue program.
YAC Soccer Championship Tournament
The ISY Chinthes took to the pitch for one last tournament of the season this past weekend. Under the leadership of coaches Michael Ramires and Maung Maung Tin (boys’ team) and coaches Nick Sturmey and Amy Htun (girls’ team) varsity boys and girls played Friday night and Saturday at South Dagon field. The boys’ team came home with the championship trophy and a first place win overall for the conference!
Missing some key players and coming off of a busy week, the girls’ team fought the good fight, finishing 3rd at the event.
The JV boys team headed to ISM early Saturday morning and hit the pitch ready to play hard. They too came away with the tournament championship trophy and a great finish to their season. Special thanks to coach Albert Stages for putting in the extra hours this season for this JV boys’ squad!
