Athletics Blog – September 2nd
Lisa Isom, Athletics Director
The Season is in Full Swing
I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing 3-day weekend. As we head into the second week of ASAs and the official start of YAC MS Basketball and HS Volleyball seasons, I want to give a shout out to our boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams. We sent two girls’ teams to ILBC with Coach Just and Coach Johnson, as well as two boys’ teams to YIS with Coach Franz and Coach Saw Htoo. All four teams had a great weekend, our our girls Yellow team finishing second overall, and our boys Yellow team finishing third.
Please join us Tuesday, September 3rd at 4pm as we host YIS for the first regular-season volleyball games of the year. We will have a boys’ and a girls’ A & B level game. We would love to see many ISY parents, staffs and students there to support the Chinthes.
Good luck to the MS boys and girls A & B level basketball teams as they head to ILBC for their season opener on Friday, September 6th at 4pm. Its not too far to head over and support our MS athletes.
Finally, grade 4 & 5 Power Soccer teams have been invited to ISM for matches on Saturday, September 7th. We hope this is the start of a fun elementary sports season for our soccer players. We hope to offer more ES sports this year than ever before.
I am hopeful that most students are getting settled into their ASA schedules by now. If you have any changes or questions about schedules, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at lisom@isyedu.orgor stop by my office in B Building.

Sometimes it is difficult to look on the bright side. But research shows that in difficult times, it is important for our mental health to allow ourselves to acknowledge that times are difficult and to feel rather than suppress negative emotions.

It is very comforting to know that as technology continues to provide us with new ways to communicate and work together, we have students who understand that simple human actions and gestures like good manners still make the world go round.
