Pre KG to grade 5 parents will be meeting with your children’s teachers in their classrooms. These conferences will be an opportunity to discuss your child’s Quarter 3 Progress Report and general progress with their teachers.

Please follow these instructions to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences on Powerschool. You will be able to sign up for conferences up until 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 26. You will then receive an email from our School Office confirming your conference schedule.

If you need assistance with signing up for the conferences please do not hesitate to reach out to elementaryoffice@isyedu.org or secondaryoffice@isyedu.org.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

As temperatures rise at school, parents are advised to apply sunscreen to their children before they arrive each day. To ensure extra protection, labeled sunscreen bottles can be brought to school for reapplication during the day. At outdoor playtime, we require children to wear a named hat, and on exceptionally hot days, they are encouraged to play in shaded areas. Finally, staying hydrated is crucial, and students are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids throughout the school day.

Dates to Remember

19th April – Parent sign up for conferences

27th April – Parent/Teacher Conferences (no school for students)

1st May – No school

3rd May – No school

The campus is not supervised until 8:00 AM each morning when we have one teacher on duty.

Social Development Continued Ages 11-12 This article will be the last in this series focusing on the social development of children.  Over the past several weeks, we have identified general social development milestones of children ages 4-10.  This article we will look at the tweens or students aged 11-12.  “Tweens” is a slang term used for children in those middle years after primary but before teens.  These years are unique in that some children will begin puberty, while others may not yet experience this life change.  Although the physical development may be varied, there are still some social-emotional developments that are similar for children this age.  These include:
  • Begin to explore identity through their clothes, hairstyles, hobbies and friends
  • Decision making skills develop but can be challenged or influenced by peer pressure
  • More independence and begin resist physical affection from parents
  • Less emotion regulation, experience strong emotions quickly and rapidly
  • May begin to rebel and question family values
  • Greater reliance on friends and their expectations
I hope you have found this series helpful.   If you have concerns about your child’s development, please feel free to reach out to me, Ms. Patty at escounselor@isyedu.org

The 7th-grade students presented about peer pressure for Grade 5 students.

Kindergarten students enjoyed the opportunity to work with secondary students on Thursday. The students played the Fight Song on the ukelele and then gave the Kindergarten students an opportunity to have a try themselves. The experience was enjoyed by all.
