Mission

The International School Yangon is a community of compassionate global citizens.

Vision

We aim to develop lifelong learners who will be a force for positive change in the world.

Dear Parents,

Yesterday, our faculty participated in some professional development around the neuroscience of how the brain changes in young people. We also learned about how our bodies react to stress. It is important that we have an understanding of how our students’ brains work and it is very useful for parents too. Here is a link to two videos that explain the role of the ‘managing brain’ and the affect stress can have on us.

Grade 3 worked on some recess essential agreements, which will be posted around the school. Thank you, Grade 3.

We hope you enjoy the long weekend, we will see you again on Tuesday the 7th of March

GRADE 1 WRITE BOOKS

Grade 1 students are becoming fantastic writers. In class, they write their own books. Here are some book covers, and also, some of the students came to read to Ms. Sheppard.

REMINDER

The campus is not supervised until 8:00 AM each morning, when we have one teacher on duty.

Grade 5 students have been making Sundials in class. They tested them out today. Sundials are the earliest type of clock and use the Sun and its position to indicate the time of day

Social Development Ages 4-5

A child’s social development is unique to each child.  There is a wide range that is considered normal.  However, while your child’s development is unique, there are some milestones typical for many within a specific age range.  Over the coming weeks, I will be sharing some general milestones expected for children within a specific age range.

Children Ages 4-5 typically can:

  • Develop friendships
  • Show some awareness of moral reasoning, such as fairness or right and wrong
  • Can express awareness of others feelings and demonstrate empathy
  • Enjoy imaginative play with other children
  • Practice sharing and taking turns
  • Listen to others
  • Stick to a task for longer periods of time

If you have questions or concerns about your child’s social development, please speak to your child’s pediatrician or contact Ms. Patty, the elementary school counselor, at escounselor@isyedu.org.  She is happy to assist your family.

GRADE 2

Our Grade 2 students are so responsible. This week the Grade 2 class is responsible for ensuring the playground is tidied up after recess times. Each week a different class takes this responsibility. The Grade 2 students took this job very seriously. Well done, and thank you, Grade 2!
