Back to School Night

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Back to School Night. Below you will find a schedule for families who only have Secondary School children. We believe that fostering a strong partnership between parents and teachers is crucial for a successful academic journey. This event is designed to provide you with insights into the broader aspects of our school’s curriculum and educational approach, as well as an opportunity to connect with the teaching staff.
We understand that there might be questions about what this event entails, and we would like to clarify its purpose. The Back to School Night is not primarily intended for obtaining specific information about individual students. Instead, it aims to achieve the following:
- Curriculum and Course Overviews: During the evening, you will gain an understanding of our curriculum and insights into your child’s courses – including what is taught and how it is taught and assessed.
- Teacher-Parent Interaction: Our teaching staff is dedicated to your child’s academic success. This event provides an opportunity for you to meet and connect with teachers, enabling you to establish an initial rapport and understanding that will benefit both your child and the teacher-student partnership.
- Parental Engagement: We encourage open lines of communication between school and home. The Back to School Night allows you to ask general questions about the academic year, school policies, and expectations, fostering a sense of involvement in your child’s education.
Please note that if you have specific concerns or inquiries about your child’s individual progress or needs, we encourage you to reach out to the respective teacher through scheduled parent-teacher conferences or emails. These dedicated interactions are better suited for addressing personalized matters.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Back-to-School Night on Thursday, August 31 from 5:30pm. This event is a valuable opportunity for you to become an active participant in your child’s education journey and to strengthen the collaboration between our school and your family.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement. We can’t wait to see you there!

The ISY Parent Association (PA)
There will be a meeting for the Parent Association (PA) on Monday, 4th September at 8:30am in our new Multi Purpose Room. There will be opportunities for interested parents to find out more about the various PA committees and sign up for membership. We look forward to seeing you there! Please click here for further information about the Parent Association in addition to the PA Facebook page.
The purpose of the Parents association is to promote a sense of community by connecting parents with their children’s school, connecting with other parents, and connecting with their children. This is achieved by co-ordinated membership committees contributing such efforts and talents as may be requested by the school staff, by sponsoring fund raising projects within the school community to provide materials and equipment for the school and by holding social and educational meetings.
Nourish Healthy Meal Plan
The food on offer at ISY at both Nourish and Gusto plays a crucial role in students’ overall health, well-being, and academic performance. We want to create a healthy eating culture that promotes nutritious food choices, provides access to balanced meals, and aligns food and nutrition practices with classroom education. Here are a few key points to consider why we are doing this:
One of our Strategic Themes at The International School Yangon is ‘Sustainability’, where students cultivate sustainability through a focus on Service Learning and The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At ISY we want to be part of the environmental drive to offer students a healthy, nutritious, plant-based diet that contributes towards lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Please view our latest blog post on the impact of food on the environment and the Nourish Ordering Procedures guide which shows you more information about how to order your child’s lunch from Nourish.
The current Nourish meal plan items are available to order. Parents must order meals weekly in advance, by 5pm every Thursday through PowerSchool. The current Nourish meal plan items will then change after each four weekly cycle with a new set meal plan in place from Monday, 18th September.
