Last weekend, 50 ISY students participated in the Yangon Model United Nations conference. Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is a student-led educational model of the United Nations used for simulations in which students learn about diplomacy and international relations. It was a very successful conference for our students with many chairing committees and being recognised with awards in their committees. Today, 20 of these students to represent ISY at the SEASAC MUN conference in Bangkok.
Teachers Teaching Teachers (TTT)
Last week, ISY hosted teachers and administrators from three other Yangon schools as part of a ‘Teachers Teaching Teachers’ conference. This sharing of ideas and expertise will ultimately benefit students and is in keeping with ISY’s guiding statement and commitment to developing lifelong learners who will be a force for positive change in the world.

MAP Testing
This week, we will be MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing students in Grade 2 to 9. MAP assessments are online adaptive assessments that provide useful data in developing a fair and accurate assessment of a student’s academic achievement and growth. Students will sit MAP assessments in Math, English, and Language Usage. Students in Grade 4 to 9 will also sit a Science assessment.
To ensure a fair and accurate assessment of a student’s academic growth and achievement, teachers combine MAP assessment data with all other student data that they have collected in the classroom. This combination of data informs teacher instruction in meeting the needs of each child.
