Secondary Principal’s Blog

September 17, 2021, Update

Christina Powers, Secondary School Principal

It has been another busy week in the secondary school. As we are now approaching the fourth week of school students are beginning to have projects completed and summative assessments. Please note, that teachers will begin to reach out to parents if they are concerned with a student’s engagement, task completion, and/or assessment results.  If you are concerned with your child’s progress, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher for guidance.

This term ISY secondary school has 14 virtual Service learning groups that are actively working on making connections and a difference in the lives of our ISY community and beyond. If you have any questions about a group please contact Mr. Lapoujade at nlapoujade@isyedu.org

Exam.Net

Over the next week, your child will be introduced to exam.net. This is a tool that ISY is using to help ensure students are working only on n identified task and completing their own work.

Exam.net will not prevent students from finding creative ways to be distracted or share information on exams, but it is a step in the right direction. As this will be a significant change for our students, we will begin to introduce the tool in a low-stakes environment. Our first goal is to ensure that students are comfortable using the tool before it is used in a situation that may impact their grades.

  • Works well with PC, Mac, Chromebooks and iPads, as well as in a blended technical environment with different hardware and/or operating systems.
  • No need for student accounts or registration. Students can access the exam with a simple exam key.
  • Prevents students from access tools other than what the teacher chooses during the exam mode.
  • Prevents students from copy and pasting responses.
