On Tuesday, all students from Grades 2 to 12 came together in their Chinthe Communities for our ISY Olympiad.

Last weekend, ISY hosted the Yangon Model United Nations (YMUN), simulation of the United Nations with Yangon international school students.

Last week, ISY hosted Mr. d’Arcy Lunn as our visiting expert. He was the best person to answer our burning questions about service learning.

this week has been a very busy one that highlighted how our compassionate Mission is central to everything we do.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all at tomorrow’s International Day to celebrate the cultures and countries that make up our ISY community.

This week, I have been part of the team that travelled with our Grade 6, 7, and 8 students on their Chinthe Expeditions.

We wish you all happy and safe holidays. Our Middle School Chinthe Expeditions will start 2025 off early on Sunday, January 5.

Our High School Chinthe Expeditions have all returned safely from Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. A lot of fun was had by all!

This week, our High School students will be on their Chinthe Expeditions. Grades 9 and 10 to Thailand, 11 to Vietnam, and 12 to Malaysia.

Join us tomorrow (Saturday, November 23) for our ISY Family Fun Fair. This is a special community event that supports our Chinthe Fund.

From this Monday, we will follow a new schedule. Secondary School students and parents will be emailed their schedule before Monday.

Our High School Volleyball and Soccer teams are now in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur competing in their SEASAC tournaments.

We encourage students to take responsibility for their learning. So, it was very pleasing to see so many students at Wednesday’s conferences.

As a reminder, Parent Teacher Conferences will be from 8:30am to 5pm on Wednesday, October 30 in the ISY Gym.

Today, we had a Chinthe Community Wellness Day. Students of all ages worked and played together in their Chinthe Communities.

This first quarter has gone fast. The students are tired but are working hard to the end! After Thadingyut we will return to a 5 day week.

This week, we were very fortunate to have Cathy Berger Kaye working with us. Cathy loves ISY’s vision for learning.

Every Thursday, the whole Secondary School has been Dropping Everything and Read (we call it D.E.A.R.) for 20 minutes. We will read whatever we like. 

These three questions underpin everything we do at ISY. Our new Chinthe Communities initiative provides a good example of this.

Yesterday, during our Chinthe Community time, Secondary School students from all grades came together to read.

This Wednesday, we are looking forward to welcoming you to our Back to School Night. It will begin at 5:30pm in the MPR.

There is a very positive energy about the campus and it is wonderful to see our new students being brought into our ISY family.

The first day of school this year is Tuesday, August 20. All Secondary School students will meet in the Gym at 8:00am.

Class of 2024, I am very proud and grateful to have had the opportunity to work with you all. You embodied our compassionate Mission and Vision.

Grade 8 students are finishing the year working on service projects that benefit our school community and Chinthe Fund partners.

Service learning at ISY can take many forms. Many student-led projects develop out of what the students are learning in class.

Executive functioning skills enable a student to fulfil their potential. Resilience and seeking support when needed is a very important one.
